Jisto

Jisto

Jisto shows a household the gap in its cover before it costs money: it puts every policy in one place and spells out what each covers, where it falls short and which policy clause each coverage alert rests on.

  1. 1

    Context

Jisto keeps track of a household’s insurance: a mobile app for its policies and a Czech website of insurance guides. Work started in October 2026.

It is built for Czech households first, in Czech and English.

  2. 2

    Problem

People often learn what a policy does not cover only when they make a claim. Policies are long, spread across several insurers, and their limits, deductibles and notice periods sit deep in the terms.

One gap is easy to miss: when the sum insured is lower than the value of the property, the insurer may reduce every claim in the same proportion.

  3. 3

    Constraints

Jisto explains; it never compares or recommends insurers or products, and it publishes no prices or rankings. Recommending products, or comparing them in a way that lets the user take out or change a policy, can be insurance distribution under zákon č. 170/2018 Sb.

Every coverage alert has to quote the clause it rests on, so the user can check it in their own policy. Notice deadlines are computed from the Civil Code and tested; where the law is unclear, the earlier date wins.

Policy documents are personal data and can include health data. The app’s action features (cancellation options, a question to the insurer, deadline alerts and the coverage chat) wait for a legal opinion before any real user gets them.

  4. 4

    Role

Tolaron designs and builds Jisto. The work covers the product, its design system, the app, the website, and checking the copy against insurance regulation before anything is published.

  5. 5

    Solution

One bar per policy: the solid part is insured, the red hatched part is not, so a gap shows before it costs money.

The app brings together an overview, alerts, quoting the policy clause where the alert is about cover, a list of policies and a scripted example of the coverage chat whose answer cites its clause. The underinsurance maths (proportional reduction under § 2854 of the Civil Code) is tested code.

  6. 6

    Outcome

The first phase is a demo on a fictional household: four invented insurers, six policies and three alerts, running in the app in Czech and English.

The website and its first four guides are built and await publication. Jisto is not in any app store and has no users yet.

  7. 7

    Technology

App: Expo and React Native with expo-router and NativeWind, for iOS and Android.

Website: Next.js with guides written in MDX.

Shared code: TypeScript packages for the domain, the coverage maths and the design tokens. A Supabase backend is planned for the next phase.
